Born and raised in Weymouth, Massachusetts, Andrew
attended the Art Institute of Boston, and later transferred to
the Ringling School of Art and Design in Sarasota, Florida.
Although colored pencil was discouraged by his professors, Spear continued to master the medium. By expanding the sizes of his pieces, Spear proves colored pencil to be as appropriate as paint or any other medium.

Spear lived in San Francisco and then New York City, where his artistic career took off. Now residing in Orlando, Florida, Spear is the co-owner of Metro Finishes, a high-end faux and mural company.
Since moving to Orlando, Spear has shown in San Francisco, New York City, and Detroit, and has future shows planned for L.A. and Atlanta.
